"The specialty at this attractive newcomer is northern Italian fare and the kitchen, on my visits, proved itself capable of dishing up any number of tantalizing examples. Handsome free-standing brick-and-fieldstone building, with a dining room with saffron stucco walls hung with colorful Italian plates, evocative of an Italian trattoria; in the entrance a bar with a few tables and a wood-burning pizza oven." -Patricia Brooks
"'Cool' environs featuring an 'elaborate stone' facade, barrel-vault ceilings and rustic, wrought-iron-flecked fixtures are a fitting showcase for the 'mouthwatering', 'real Italian' dishes served at this 'family-oriented' 'happy place' in Westport; a 'fine wine list', 'spot-on service' and 'nor-out-of-sight prices' please"
"Like a portal to another world, Via Sforza transports diners to small-town Bari, Italy. Arias sung by Italian tenors fill the air while diners feast on regional Italian cuisine such as risotto Adriatico, veal Valdostana, pappardelle al forno and pesce alla griglia. Delicious homemade desserts finish the meal with a flourish."
"From an open pizza oven with splinters of wood burning deep within twinkling invitingly to guest across the foyer, to its vaulted ceilings, wine tuns set into the sponge-painted stucco walls, a couple of fruit presses, colorful ceramic plates and copper kitchen pans hanging decoratively her and there to three wrought- iron chandeliers -- even leather-cushioned chairs studded with brass tacks-- Via Sforza Combines the aura of a rustic country villa with that of a medieval wine cellar."
"Voted Best Italian Restaurant in F airfield County" -Readers Poll 2007`
"Every morsel we sampled here -- even the charred edge, wood burning brick oven pizza -- is exemplary and presented in simple perfection. The wine list is thoughtful in its choices and range of prices, and the dining room has the elegance of an ancient and honored ristorante in Italy."
"In a town teeming with Italian restaurants, Via Sforza is at the top of the category"
"...it's solid, reliable, and consistently good."
"I've been eating here for years and have yet to try a dish that fell short."
"Nothing -- from the attentive and speedy service to the mood – is uptight here. If you're looking for a quieter place to eat than the rather noisy main room, ask for one of the tables in the rear alcove. It's intimate and much calmer." -Michelle Bowers
"As soon as you walk through the large, antique wooden door to Via Sforza in Westport, you are transported to Tuscany. From its stone façade to its warm color palette, it is as cozy as can be."
"A veritable bargain considering the top-notch food, atmosphere, and service. The wine list is chock full of reasonably priced selections, including a heavy presence from Italy. There is also a small dining room in the back that looks like a rustic wine cellar - perfect for an intimate gathering on a special occasion."
"While the castle-like exterior appearance may be a bit intimidating, diners do not need to cross a draw bridge to enjoy the authentic Italian delights at Via Sforza Trattoria. Described by one reviewer as "the most amazing Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at, hands down," Via Sforza is widely acclaimed and highly recommended."
"Sforza manages to be inventive without jarring the Italian mystique. sing traditional ingredients and making everything from scratch"
"A piece of Italy in Westport"
The outside looks like something you would see in Tuscany Italy (not that I've been there but I've seen photos) with it's round stone facade and rustic wood door. Inside when you walk in, your greeted by the Brick oven that is roaring to cook all the pizzas that are so popular.
